Frequently asked questions
What is Rehearsal, exactly?
A placement-prep practice platform covering coding, aptitude, communication, interviews, and more (see the full list at /modules). What makes it different from a quiz app is grading: code is actually executed, spreadsheet formulas are actually computed, spoken and written answers are evaluated against real criteria - your result is never a guess at whether your answer looked right.
What's the difference between Practice and Real mode?
Practice mode is untimed and unlimited - retry as many times as you want, with hints available in most modules. Real mode is timed and produces a verdict that gets recorded to your history (and, on an institutional license, is visible to your lab incharge). Nothing counts toward your record until you deliberately switch to Real.
How is a spoken or written answer actually graded?
It depends on the module. Some content (Aptitude, Excel, Typing, the maths side of Coding Skills) is entirely hand-authored and scored client-side with zero AI involved, so the correct answer is fixed and verifiable. Modules that need to evaluate open-ended reasoning (interviews, negotiations, personality scenarios) use AI evaluation grounded in the specific conversation you actually had - and wherever a real deterministic check is possible instead (running your code, computing your formula, scoring a negotiation's actual terms), that's what's used, not an AI's opinion.
Is Rehearsal for individuals, or only through a college?
Both. You can subscribe individually (see /pricing), or your college can take an institutional license that gives every enrolled student a seat, plus a lab-incharge console for tracking cohort progress and setting exam-mode access.
If I use an institutional license, what can my college see?
Your lab incharge can see your Real-mode performance and attempt history within your institution's own console - that's the point of the institutional product. Practice-mode attempts and the private Readiness Self-Assessment module are not shared with your institution. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Why does Rehearsal ask for my location or device information?
Device tokens (not hardware IDs) enforce a one-mobile-plus-one-laptop limit per license, so one paid seat can't be shared across many devices at once. Precise location is only ever requested if your lab incharge has specifically configured a physical-attendance check for exam-mode Real attempts - it's captured once per attempt with your browser's own permission prompt, never tracked continuously. Full detail in our Privacy Policy.
Which languages does Coding Skills support?
JavaScript, Python, Java, C, C++, and C#, all graded by actually running your code - a sandboxed interpreter for JavaScript/Python, real compilation and execution for the other four.
Does Rehearsal store my payment details?
No. Payments are processed directly by Razorpay (India) or Stripe (international) - Rehearsal never receives or stores your card, UPI, or bank details.
What happens to the answers and code I submit?
They're used to grade your attempt and give you feedback, and - where a module uses AI evaluation - are sent to that provider for that purpose only. We don't publish, sell, or use your submissions for anything beyond running the product. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of processors involved.
